Wing - The Animation Workshop

Bachelor film project 2012 from The Animation Workshop.

Story: A solitary, one winged creature called Wing is harassed by a group of oppressive crows due to being weak and different from them. He decides that he wants to overcome his disability and escape from the forest. He builds a catapult and a mechanical wing to accomplish this. When he launches himself away from the forest, the wing malfunctions, and he crashes into the territory of the crows. The crows are about to harm him, but are then lured away by a two-winged humanoid, who the crows attack instead. Wing finds the creature, and discovers it is a female of his own kind, and that the crows have torn one of her wings off. As the crows come towards them, Wing gets the idea that he and the female can fly in tandem by flapping each of their single wings while holding onto each other, and they manage to escape from the forest.

The Path is an Exquisite Corpse narrative created by virtual world artists. They were by order of scene.. Bryn Oh, Colin Fizgig, Marcus Inkpen, Desdemona Enfield, Douglas Story, Maya Paris, Claudia222 Jewell, Scottius Polke and Rose Borchovski.The artists were given a random order and upon composing a short narrative would then pass it on to the following artist in the sequence who would then add to it and continue passing it on until reaching the final artist.

Facebook plans to raise US$5 billion in an IPO that could value the company at US$100 billion. The eight-year-old company founded by Mark Zuckerberg could raise as much as US$10 billion with follow-on offerings.

A market cap of US$100 billion would make Facebook one of the most valuable companies in the world, on par with McDonald's.

The company sells highly targeted ads based on user-provided information. This helped Facebook earn US$1 billion last year on US$3.7 billion in revenue. By comparison, Google pulled in US$38 billion in sales and US$10 billion in earnings.

But on a price-to-sales basis, the market thinks Facebook is worth more. Does this mean the market thinks Facebook will win the internet?

Analysts expect Facebook's advertising revenue will grow just 52% to $5.8 billion this year and only 21% to $7 billion in 2013. That is still far behind Google.

What's more, Facebook is increasingly popular on mobile devices but doesn't display ads on phones and its capability to do so remains unproven.

Sales from virtual goods in games aren't much help either. Virtual goods produced just 12% of Facebook's revenue last year.
