Software to develop 3D content are huge and complex, expensive and difficult to learn. CG artists spend years training to become proficient in modelling, animation and effects, not to mention other attributes that an animator has to learn and know how to use well. What if there was a shortcut to an artist over the complex, and work on something simple and accessible? This is where the pre Machinima and animation made by many programs offers (like Iclone, Moviestorm, Muvizu, xtranormal, etc).
Today the variety of software engines is as large as the indecision that some may have to choose the right program, which includes the ideal or the results to be achieved. Although now a large on-line gaming community, has the potential to become the next big thing for artists and content creators Computer graphics. It is easily accessible, does not requires or requires very little capital to start, and gets better and better every year, only depends on the director to "discover" all the little tricks. On some pro CG you need to buy a thousand dollars applications to spend hundreds of hours to render animations ever becomes obsolete for the amateur artist and thus can achieve similar quality productions done in time by a tenth of a hundredth of the budget. Been able to justify this popularity into a whole that the Machinima (Home-made) amateur on the rise, generating millions and millions of dollars to its massive video hosting services such as Youtube, dailymotion or vimeo.
The Machinima itself as an art form is very young. Since the animation is much older, more consistent, more difficult to elaborate, final work must look high end quality, not closer but rather perfect. The first machinima film, which is a film made in a game engine, was launched in 1996 in Quake. Improvements in engines and video game cards, editing, etc., have allowed gaming more realistic for the future. Ironically the 3D packages have grown in complexity over this time, but the games, some frozen in time, it shows for example in the lack of development of alternatives to customize the animations, ie. Despite some "setbacks" Animation made at home by an amateur, working with an engine more sophisticated, more realistic graphics (provided by this easy going animation programs and/or online games) and animation more fluid. All this combined with massive delivery of video (perhaps thousands of millions of users). All these developments combined point to one thing: the future of cinema is the virtual cinema and not exclusively on the WEB. It's predictable that this content will be available by your television through new House media.
Of course the machinima will never replace packages such as 3ds max or Maya (considered the best 3D animation programs, but requires a high knowledge). These tools were developed to offer professionals a high degree of control and integration with production lines for film and TV (of course we are very far away from see a Disney production made in Second Life). The aspiring filmmaker, machinima creator of homemade and amateur, don't need to offer these packages, this quality can not be interested in learning the intricacies of the film industry, unless your job depended on it, this is a factor that each one must judge on its own (but do machinima animation requires some minimal knowledge of the principles of a production / output). The Machinima eventually fill the gap between idea and execution, cinema in real time, and is a facilitator of entry for these new filmmakers. But we must be aware about what is Machinima/Animation is leading us. In Machinima case we are suffering a too high delivery of content, so high that the essence is distorted, example; (in my opinion) machinima.com delivers a high number of real time machinima by day, no offence, tons of real time videos published very day. So massive that becomes impossible to follow or watch it all. So much videos dedicated to tip and tricks, funny moments by it games popularity, like GTA, Modern Warfare 3, worlds of war craft, etc. Machinima.com has become as huge as a company and it works as a company with partnership google add, and much less is required. The animation Market, cinema, has increased, it's not new and the content not so much attractive, but just in some cases.
The machinima art idea is to use game engines as platforms for film, voice work, sound, environment, image processing, fx's, just as modern cinema uses actors, support staff, games, props, lights and post- production. The filmmaker can run from anywhere in the world and recording any viewer of an effective performance becomes a camera and edit your script or idea. Rendering is taken for granted in machinima, but CG is traditionally the number one concern when it comes to producing high quality work. Simply put, the weaknesses of an artist are in a machinima irrelevant since there is a "safety net" that can greatly increase the skills otherwise deficient.
To get into machinima, all you need is a real-time 3D engine. Doesn't necessarily have to be a game engine, but these are generally best suited for film-making. This is a relatively light load, compared to the thousands of dollars needed to organize even a film production. Although performances can be recorded using basic methods machinima, they are often as daily production of a film: rough and missing key elements. This is where a large part of the film comes with post-production including editing, composition, scoring, rating, and creative use of post-production effects and allows the combination of two different sets of images together seamlessly , a practice that hasn't become popular in the world machinima, but this is well understood in the rest of the movie industry. The production of machinima don't need to be limited to short films. Can be adapted to a music video, a documentary, treatment, or even a part of a traditional production pipeline. The biggest barrier to adoption of machinima as a legitimate vehicle for content creation has been a lack of awareness and lack of an ecosystem. The art of machinima is still young, but computer graphics and animation technology is raising the bar each year, providing a better starting point and better for the filmmakers who lack resources to carry out their ideas. There is great potential, both in marketing the idea of 3D cinema in real time and leverage current offerings in the game and CG technology to create more engaging and sophisticated art.
In this day and age we are already witnessing the exponential growth of the arts in Machinima and Animation, are in many events around the globe, whether through new technologies with the mass of the video hosted on the Internet. This past year (2011), was huge, the list would be huge if it were to mention all the new job, new concept, new artists in the scene and so on. Not only animated film but also Machinima content associated with the hugeness of the market, by it nature.
Some of the most acclaimed this past year is without a doubt (animation) made by Peter Pythagasaurus PeakeCast: Bill Bailey, Martin and Simon Greenall and Trenaman | (Machinima) The Trashmaster (nouvelle version) Murakawa done in GTAIV. Another big jump that gave machinima, machinima film was the documentary login2life of course made by some other acclaimed artists such by a new artist with the first working note 100 Trashmaster by the public | Clear Skies the Movie perfect animations(mocap camera) and story. And what will future bring to us :)
A year 2012 with many new aspirations, new features and new developments. The machinima animation and in essence may have many differences, but go hand in hand, in this mad rush for market and recognition, but the course machinima neck will not surely beat the animated film, never.
Hi! Since its release, the idea to migrate the server to a bigger one, on Yourmachinima, now we finally are ready to do it :). Due to this time (schedule to 14/01/2011 UK - Greenwich morning time, between 11:00 am and 13:00 pm. Due this time it's quiet normal that the website could be offline or unreachable, since we have to move all content. We are also preparing a backup and everything point to happen smoothly and fast. We also would like to say that a part of this migration, yourmachinima it's becoming bigger and bigger and we are moving to a 20Gb server powerful! We are looking forward to sell some part of the host, provide hosting service and beyond. Stay tune for the news.
Hi, we have the pleasure to announce the fixed Facebook Logins issues,
new accounts and existing members now can login with no problem. Thanks
your patience. Mean while we had implemented a mobile support for our
visitors and members. How to use it? It's simmple just use http://yourmachinima.com link on your Mobile/Tablet a fast php script will check and open http://yourmachinima.com/mobile
link (if you try to open http://yourmachinima.com/mobile on your PC it
won't take any effect, script "knows" witch device you are (although we
need to refine the detection for some browsers, Ie on Ipad using safari
runs well but on Diigo browser detection fails. Keep in mind, mobile app
on Iphone and Ipad only compatible with Safari. Enjoy this new
feature. Leave you some snapshots taken on Iphone 3G and Ipad2.
Hi, sorry again. It's not easy, facebook plugin
versus Facebook API changes are causing malfunction, so we are running
back to normal logins until facebook change API on 31/12/2011. Mean
while we implemented the new TOS Term of Service - CONDITIONS OF USE AND USER CONDUCT (as described bellow).
Now
Yourmachinima will refine even more the content and user rights on
submitted work. Since the begin of this project of unify many CGI
techniques of producing movies and short films and some no sense youtube
action in allowing some repeated copyright stuff (with no sense at
all), we don't promote that kind of works, this kind of attitude. We are
not the judge or even the police, but since this website (yourmachinima.com) is growing from thousands to more than 10.000.000 (10 million) views, we need to keep the good spirit and the common sense.
Basically we will not be the filter machine from youtube, but not backed by no means content with the following interpretation:
*
Repetitive work, when the producer just changes the background and the
work does not evolve. Repeats (like floating camera allover the video,
etc). (there is no point of repeating over and over) our massive number
of followers don't like it and it adds no value to your work or ours.
Period.
*
Works that use copyrighted material for studies that utilize
third-party material, must necessarily HAVE mention in the video
description or the claims of the same in the credits.
* The terms are presented to members who submit their work or the work of others.
* If a video is denied, or otherwise, we undertakes a pre warning, explaining clearly the reason. (yes this is constructive).
*
Yourmachinima is not a commercial site, we do not sell anything, our
service only as a community is to provide an attractive website,
accessible to any user who has interest and curiosity about the world of
animation and computer gráfica we don't focus on a single platform, but
in many and varied techniques. We had at first a tendency, more to Second Life, but it is outdated.

Finally Ricky Grove announced the closing of
entries, and Arf, have been the end of a recount O_o 191 submissions,
incredible as the contents of Machinima production is growing
exponentially and in quality. The In fact this past year has seen
enormous developments and good not only of Machinima in Second Life but
as with other platforms such as Iclone, Moviestorm, The Movie, GTA, The
Sims, Half Life, Garys Mod, Mass Effect, etc.. Also announced that the
next two weeks the results will be published, now falls to the jury to
select the works, I guess 50 will be in (good luck and lots of caffeine
lol). To follow the Machinexpo selection results here
I'll
take this opportunity to let some more lines, maybe because this
productions it is outside this Machinexpo (I guess they are on a higher
step). From my part, my favorites (Machinima Movies) of 2011 would be
too much work to be able to mention here without boring those who read
and have not even finished the year:).
But
let two of which I think is really good, high quality, excellent script
and good execution, involving the viewer and giving a good boost to
this growing art. (Of course they are complete movies).
http://www.clearskiesthemovie.com/
- Clear Skies is a groundbreaking machinima produced by Ian Chisholm,
which takes place entirely within the galactic setting of EVE Online.
The execution of the film is brilliant; Clear Skies is a hybrid between
Half-Life 2's character design and EVE Online's backstory. Despite the
fact that Clear Skies is set in the EVE Online universe, the film is
accessible to virtually any fan of machinima or the sci-fi genre as a
whole. Check out what all the hype is about; Clear Skies won't
disappoint. This one Episode 3.
And Finally the amazing and high end "The Trashmaster"
A
breakneck thriller, well-designed and full of action. A garbage man
with a sense of justice, The Trashmaster as a vengeful hero is divided
into two lives. No more words is a movie not to miss (do not forget the
popcorn: D). The Trashmaster is a 88 minutes feature film made
entirely using the images of GTA IV! The film created by Frenchman
Mathieu Weschler, took 2 years to complete, making it a true work of
art! Finished on 2010 but in 2011 took huge impact on general public.
Finally, the work is complete, done. The video is not too long, but I'd say that is long enough:). This time I wanted to go beyond the work of post production and for the desired effect (the immensity of the universe) not even using a virtual platform (eveonline, a massive multiplayer in the vastness of the cosmos with stunning scenery). This is because, for those who don't know Second Life (primary platform where I develop my work, and have some limitations compared to other platforms as well as the limitations of other platforms compared to Second Life). So! You can´t have everything, easier is to "have a little of everything", take some advantage and capabilities of other worlds. During the production phase has been added plus a 3D platform called Universe Sandbox, this production was an adventure, in all sense. With some few scenarios "from another world," this work, in addition to the script (by me) was a tremendous job of editing some of the already known, * Chroma keying technique, creating layers upon layers. Layers to color correction, effects, or even camera work in After Effects.
Show first-hand some snapshots of post production for your approval. HYBRID .3 (Machinima title sequence) purchased and licensed for this production, all content of this video / film is under a license Creative Commons ShareAlike 3.0 Unported (includes de music). A big thanks to the UTSA (University of Texas at San Antonio, Artspace http://secondlife.com/destination/utsa-artspace-2), and of course the excellent 3D work by Igor Ballyhoo - Metamorphoses. Also to Inspire Space Park http://secondlife.com/destination/288
The inspirations for this issue, we reread a simple and illuminating phrase of Stephen Crane; The man said to the universe: "Sir I exist!" "However," replied the universe, "The in-fact has not created me A Sense of Obligation. "
When I realized and understood that we in our insignificant existence before the universe. "after all who we are?" "What we do here?". In the vastness of the universe, the big bag to the evolution of the Human Brain (intelligence, important to us, but not the biggest creation of the Universe, If you know what I mean), the elemental gods (not wanting to represent any particular, but a representation of supreme entities that draw the Universe, indifferent to Human being, or perhaps not so much. ...
I hope you enjoy, An embrace of the size of the universe:) * Chroma key composting (or chroma keying) is a technique for composting (layering) two images together. A color range in the top layer is made transparent, revealing another image behind. The chroma keying technique is commonly used in video production and post-production.
The feeling of feedbackgiven andfor what I amlooking tothe work itself, made me give further information. This work is theculmination oftwo"major" projectsstarting in1986 andcontinuedin 2011 (rematered to UWA Art of the Artists) from the (Original Cognitive Distortion Poem), when I wroteaseries of poemsin the '80s.Perhapsapremeditatedwayof rubbingon the brink ofmadness tobe able to feeldiscernment. What started as an anonymousblog, becomestobeverycommon, wellattendedanda lot to giveto readers (the blog it is discontinued).Of course themeaning of poems and novels are beyond this scope and nowI wanted to giveup and made it less personaland by the requirementsof theUWAFestival- theChallenge of theUniversity of Western AustraliainSecond Lifefor theIVEdition.I tookaseries of poemsold andpersistent, a composition of the mixtureof sense anddesire, todiscover andgo beyond the viewers point. It is extremelyrewardingwhen our workis recognized, but it's strangeto feel thatthere was stillsomething that I can do more.... :)
As some requests to understand clear thevoice and the poem meaning, I did the subtitles on YouTube for better understanding (lol or not).I hope you enjoy.Greetings andthanks for everything!
Transcription of the poem
"I'm only here to glorify what they encounter, and in the end I loose myself between time and space. Overcome barriers and see the unchanging distance The reason? And you?
welcome to universe, complex with attitude, In tons of uncontrolled poetry, the universe exist, compose the phonetics and words.
full of all, full of nothing, the knowledge of the emptiness, the unexpected, the inevitable, the unexplored, today there is anything different in the air.
Maybe a drop of rain that falls and refresh this burning passion. Or a ray of sun shine entering baldly into the eyes, as your gazed pointed, perhaps drops and trickles from my eyes uncontrollably.
You can always have a wonder of the thousand windows of the four corners of the house. The house is universe, Where dwell enclosed, within this, physical body. from the Synthesis, here there comes, the statement, outline, very unexpectedly as they lost the mean, Draw from the graphite, Brilliant and dazzling.
Where goes the infinite, in a compressed matter, where the Big bag explodes. At the binning of everything, It appears... It appears that the burst and meanders through the mind
The insane feeling. What causes, impulsive movement, and the thought conclusive. From gestures to the words. Endures the basic. Endures the basic. Endures the basic.
The word that packs, The gesture that never acts. Do you understand now why the feeling is unsustainable to make the point of an different desire for well-being?
With desire and affection, the Universe brings Hyperbole That will open your eyes again, By Remarkable Incident. Direction in body, soul and mind Free, in wild journey.
There was a clear expressed sense to extend the offering. Think of him as, sweet, fresh and strong. Listed symptoms of passion, burns. and persistent with basic concepts.
